Saudi Arabia is one the most important countries in the Middle East , acting a vital role in the politics and economy of the region.
Saudi Arabia is the world's leading petroleum exporter, which fuels the country’s economy. The central institution of the Saudi Arabian government is the Saudi monarchy. The Basic Law of Governmett adopted in 1932 declared that Saudi Arabia is a monarchy ruled by the sons and grandsons of the first king, Abd Al Aziz Al Saud. It also claims that the Qur'an is the constitution of the country, which is governed on the basis of the Sharia (Islamic Law).
Men and Women wear contrast cloths in color, white and black. Women are veiled in a fully cloth covering over the body even face, except for the eyes.
Saudi Arabia is one of the most restricted countries in terms of photgraphy. Saudi government takes some steps to ease photography during the annual Hajj pilgrimage and recently allowed taking pictures of the monuments and historic sites. The Saudi officials try to apply more reforms in the cultural activities as well as photography.
It’s hard to shoot in public as the people are not comfortable with a device like camera to capture their moment. Saudi men react positively in front of the camera but they can’t tolerate their women’s pictures to be taken.

کشور پادشاهی عربستان سعودی یکی از مهم ترین کشورهای منطقه خاورمیانه است که نقش حیاتی در مسایل سیاسی و اقتصادی منطقه دارد.
عربستان بزگ ترین صادر کننده نفت در دنیا است, از این رو اقتصاد این کشور بر پایه نفت است. از سال ۱۹۳۲ که سلطنت سعودی بنیان نهاده شد، این کشور پادشاهی مطلقه داشته‌است که این پادشاهی در دست خاندان آل سعود است. پادشاه باید برای اغلب تصمیم‌هایی که می‌گیرد تأیید علما و رهبران دینی کشور را کسب کند. در این کشور حزب سیاسی، پارلمان، و انتخابات وجود ندارد و دین از قدرتمندترین نهادهای جامعه‌است.
رانندگی زنان در عربستان سعودی ممنوع است و با وجود برخی تلاشهای انجام شده برای لغو این ممنوعیت، به دلیل مخالفت مقامات روحانی این کشور، این تلاشها به نتیجه نرسیده‌است. زنان در این کشور باید پوشیده باشند. برداشت علمای سعودی از حجاب اسلامی، پوشاندن تمام بدن از جمله صورت و دست هاست. پلیس مذهبی عربستان همواره بر این نوع پوشش زنان تاکید داشته است.
عکاسی در عربستان به دلیل ممنوعیت آن بر اساس تفسیر علمای سعودی از اسلام ممنوع است. اما در سال های اخیر حکومت این کشور قدم های مثبتی برای اجازه عکاسی از مراسم حج داده است. اخیرا نیز عکاسی از بناها و مکان های تاریخی به شکل رسمی آزاد شده است. عکاسی در سطح شهر هم به شکل محدودی امکان پذیر است. در شهرهای بزرگ واکنش مردان نسبت به عکاسی از آنها بهتر شده است، اما بیشتر مواقع باید با احتیاط عکاسی کرد و قاعدتا عکاسی از زنان ممنوع است.
