Haleema Bibi, 43 years-old, was a housewife with five children living in the remote village of Jattoi in southern Punjab. Haleema was attacked with acid by unknown criminals while she was sleeping with her eight year-old daughter, Kauser at her home in September 1997, leaving her face and arms badly burnt and the ear of her daughter completely burnt.
