Pakistan has been plagued in a never-ending story of heroin abuse. Pakistan, literary meaning the land of Pure, has long borders with the world’s number one narcotics drugs producing nation of Afghanistan, thus making it the easiest target route path to naturally bring the material in the poverty-stricken nation that struggling with its own domestic political issues.
Addiction to heroin is more common among the poor, though it’s not that easy to have a clear figures of wealthy Pakistani addicts.
Skandar, Kanti, Zahir, Maqsood and the other addicts inject the drug the syringes that have been used several times to get rid of their troubled life but they can never get rid of heroin.
They drop-in at the House of Hope centre every day to get new syringes. Take a nap in a room and light a cigarette. Edhi is a centre that provides more facilities for the heroin addicts as they can get food and a place to stay at nights even though they all sleep in a big room but at least they can take a shower and wash their cloths during their stay. “House of hope” and “Edhi Home” are NGOs to treat and help heroin addicts in the metropolitan city of Karachi. Heroin is a repetitive sad story in a country that is a safer place for Islamic extremists who have gained the power to threat the world.
